Year 10 Mathematics
Course Description
The Year 10 Mathematics course is based on Level 5 of the Curriculum.
The strands are:
• Number and Algebra
• Geometry and Measurement
• Statistics
The intent is that all students will have mastered Level 5. We acknowledge, however, that some students will be at Level 3 and 4 and some at Level 6 and beyond.
In this course students will develop the ability to think creatively, critically, strategically and logically. They learn to structure, to organise and carry out procedures flexibly and accurately, to process and communicate information and to enjoy intellectual challenge. All students study Mathematics for at least three years. Our Mathematics department offers an excellent range of courses at senior level, giving students the opportunity to follow a number of pathways in gaining National Qualifications. We aim to provide all students with the essential mathematical skills and qualifications for their future tertiary training and/or positions in the workforce.
